Dr. Roberts has been practicing Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine for over 30 years.   After receiving his BS and Medical Degree from Louisiana State University, he completed a Psychiatry Residency and Anxiety Disorders Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He was one of the first psychiatrists in the country to complete a Fellowship in Substance Abuse Disorders at the Nationally Acclaimed Medical University of South Carolina Center for Drugs and Alcohol Program where he was fortunate to train under nationally recognized experts in Psychiatry and Substance Abuse. He helped train some of the current leaders in the field while serving as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina and received several teaching awards and authored and co-authored several peer reviewed articles on Anxiety Disorders, Substance Abuse Disorders and Addiction Psychiatry.

He recently served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and as the Addiction Psychiatrist and Medical Director of the nationally acclaimed treatment center, Pavillon International.

Nationally recognized experts from throughout the country have referred patients and family members to see Dr. Roberts. He is one of the few psychiatrists in the Carolinas to be vetted by multiple State Professional Health Programs to treat physicians and other healthcare workers, in addition to being vetted by Judges and Lawyers Assistance Programs from throughout the country.

Dr. Roberts is also one of the few psychiatrists in the Carolinas to work with the National Football League as one of their treating psychiatrists while serving as the Attending Psychiatrist and Medical Director of Outpatient Services at the Medical University of South Carolina.
